With newspaper death watch in full swing, I’d be hard pressed to not say I’m thankful for the job I have. Every day it feels like there is something else to worry about, whether it’s the 401Ks or furloughs, there’s always a concern that tomorrow may be your last day on the job.
Not anymore.
I’ve given up the idea that the job is what defines me. And with that being gone, I’ve given up on worrying about where the paycheck is coming from. Yup, it pretty much doesn’t matter anymore. As long as I have this site, this blog, and www.addisports.com, I’m going to be Zuri the writer forever. But while I’m still on the job, as long as I have business to finish, I’m attacking the day’s responsibilities with as much zeal and hustle as possible.
Which brings me to today. It was a good day. I officially declared it blog Wednesday and knocked out a blog entry for all five blogs I manage and contribute to. (That now includes this site.) Not only did I knock out five blogs, but I got a video in at my newspaper’s Web site (something we desperately need) and got it all done before deadline. It’s the little things like this that keep me happy.
That’s a success I like to enjoy every day.
